About YIT

YIT is an acronym for Youth in Transition, a fancy phrase for anyone between the ages of 16 and 22 years old, the years of transitioning from childhood to adulthood. The grant helps young adults become more prepared, self-sufficient, successful adults by helping them navigate this often difficult and uncertain transition.

YIT offers support with things such as building a resume, finding and keeping a job, stabilizing housing, enrolling in health care coverage, finding a doctor or counselor, enrolling in life and job skills training, applying for 3 Squares (food stamps) or SSI benefits, managing or overcoming substance use, enrolling in high school completion or GED courses, applying to college and for financial aid, getting matched with a mentor, developing independence, and getting linked with additional community supports and services.
